Fresh Art03 is Robert Charlton’s second exhibition since completing
a MA in Communications Design at Central St Martins in January 2003.
This recent study added to his extensive involvement in art and design, a
passion for image making and functional representations of the way he sees
his world. It is also a beginning of a new fulltime career.
Where photography has always been an ancillary skill, it is now the central
focus of his observations. The digital revolution has enabled Robert to collate,
access and review a large collection of images from which new themes and
directions emerge.
In addition to his studio of traditional mark making tools, digital photography
is a medium in which Robert is very comfortable. His experiences of working
and teaching in fine art and new media at RMIT University, Melbourne, enabled
Robert to embrace the technological developments of photography.
The images are produced in a range of mediums from Epson archival Inkjets,
Iris fine art Cicleé prints and C-type, Durst Lambda
‘rgb’ traditional photographs.
The most recent prints are Cicleé editioned prints otherwise known
as Fine Art Iris Prints, which utilise state-of-the-art digital printing
technology to create reproductions of excellent quality.
